The Federal Road Network of over 35,000 kilometres had lacked proper management and maintenance practices, which the project addressed. Unclear roles across several stakeholders were clarified, current management processes identified and streamlined processes proposed, a new Asset Location Referencing System created, and a conceptual system design for a Road Asset Management System introduced. Organisational change was managed, and implementation issues around data collection and management were tackled during the project.
